Revelation 12-14 gives us a peak behind the scenes at what was happening in the spiritual realm when Jesus came. Satan, in the form of a dragon, is pictured as crouching and waiting to devour Jesus the moment he is born, but he ascends into heaven and is victorious. Because of Jesus’ death in our place, the devil (literally, the accuser) cannot accuse us before the Father anymore. Knowing his time is limited, he recruits beastly world powers to do his work. People face a choice — be sealed by God or marked by the beast. God wants us to be marked by his Word on our heads and hands (in our thoughts and in our deeds).
