Council

Elders, deacons, and pastors form the Council, the body that provides governance and oversight for the direction of the church. The Council typically meets every two months on the second Tuesday of the month at 6:30 pm.

Consistory

Elders and pastors form the Consistory, which is responsible for the spiritual care and nurture of the congregation. It oversees the spiritual care and nurturing of the Congregation; the administration of baptisms, communion, and professions of faith; the preaching of the Word; the church’s worship, discipleship, outreach, and fellowship ministries; Christian discipline; and the church’s administrative functions. Elders oversee shepherding of a Care Group and serve in various specialized roles, such as communion coordinator, delegate to classis, or committee member. The Consistory meets after Council meets.

Diaconate

Deacons form the diaconate, a board that ministers with compassion and service to encourage the church to be the hands and feet of Jesus. Deacons minister to those in physical or financial need within the church and the community; raise awareness about issues of social justice and mercy; promote sound stewardship of time, talents, and finances among the Members; administer the sharing fund; and evaluate requests for financial support. Each Deacon tends to the physical needs of the members of their Care Group and serves in various specialized roles, such as partner ministry liaison or committee member. The Diaconate meets after Council meets.
