DISCOVER CASCADE

Normally offered twice each year, Discover Cascade classes plan for 4-6 hours of interaction. 

The class is for adults who have not yet professed their faith as well as those transferring from another church.

  • what do we do at discover cascade?

    • Explain the core values and commitments of Cascade Fellowship, including reformed theology and practice, history and vision of the church, structure, policies and staff, personal responsibilities of membership, covenantal responsibilities of membership.
    • Give an opportunity to discuss spiritual journeys
    • Identify your interests in serving God's church
    • Provide opportunity to meet church leadership: elders, deacons, staff
    • Allow time for questions and to schedule individual time if requested.
  • if you are professing faith as an adult for the first time

    1. Meet with the pastor and/or elders to express your desire for membership and share your faith journey.
    2. Depending on circumstances, spend time with the pastor and/or elders to explore and understand your faith.
    3. Meet with the full body of Ministering Elders to share profession of faith and request baptism if never baptized.
    4. The Ministering Elders will either approve your baptism and/or profession of faith or request additional time for discipleship.
    5. After Ministering Elder approval, you are baptized and welcomed into membership before the church family and given opportunity to profess your faith by answering the following questions: 
      Do you believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God sent to redeem the world, do you love and trust Him as the one who saves you from your sin and do you, with repentance and joy, embrace Him as Lord of your life?
      Do you believe that the Bible is the Word of God revealing Jesus Christ and His redemption, and that the confessions of this church faithfully reflect this revelation?
      Do you promise to do all you can, with the help of the Holy Spirit, to strengthen your love and commitment to Jesus Christ by sharing faithfully in the life of the church, honoring and submitting to its authority: and do you join with the people of God in doing the work of the Lord everywhere?
  • if you are

    • an active member of a church that transfers membership (crc, rca, presbyterian, etc.)
    • an active member of a church that does not transfer membership
    • an inactive/former member of a church
    1. Please send a letter to your former church informing them of your desire to become a member at Cascade Fellowship and request a transfer of church membership (if applicable).
    2. Meet with your care group elder for an opportunity to get to know each other and share your faith journey.
    3. Once your membership papers are received, your elder will make a recommendation to the Ministering Elder board to approve your membership.
    4. After Ministering Elder approval, you are welcomed into membership before the church family and given the opportunity to publicly affirm your faith by answering the following questions:

      Do you believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God sent to redeem the world, do you love and trust Him as the one who saves you from your sin and do you, with repentance and joy, embrace Him as Lord of your life?
      Do you believe that the Bible is the Word of God revealing Jesus Christ and His redemption, and that the confessions of this church faithfully reflect this revelation?
